THEMS THE BRAKES

What makes up my vehicles braking system?
Components of the brake system start with your brake pedal which when pushed, sends pressurized brake fluid through to the master cylinder following through the brake lines to the calipers. The calipers engage the brake pads onto the rotor which slows the wheels down to a stopped position.

Parts that regularly require replacement are the rotors and pads, the calipers require replacement frequently and the master cylinder and brake lines less frequently.

How often should I be checking my Brakes?
It is recommended to have your brakes checked every third oil change, or every 15000kms.
Symptoms to recognize if your brakes are in need of attention: any pulsation when you apply pressure to your brake pedal, and squeaking, squealing or grinding noises when you engage your brake system. If your brake pedal is spongy or goes to the floor and any wiggling in your steering wheel when you apply your brakes could also indicate a brake issue and should be looked at by your trusted mechanic.

Here at JSW Autocare your safety is our priority! We make sure to visually check your brakes for you at every oil change or every tire change/rotation. Please give us a call right away if you are experiencing any of these symptoms or if you just want to have a brake inspection completed.
